Development of the Novel


The development of the Novel is based on some peculiar factors which emerged in 18th century. The factors which played the greatest role in the emergence of the Novel are:

  • The rise of Middle Class.
  • No cramping limitations of Classicism.
  • The rise of the Democracy.
  • The decline of the drama.                     
  • The wider scope of the Novel.

A novelist uses various techniques to interpret the human life and the society. A novelist uses the psychological, autobiographical, realistic, picaresque, stream of consciousness and some other techniques to interpret the human life and the society.
     
Victorian Novel is the revelation of the most typical product of English genius. Realism, Philosophy humanism and satire were the most typical product those were revealed by the novelists of the Victorian age. Almost all the novelists of the Victorian age have produced the above typical.
